I first became familiar with Ros Craig’s work through the Aspire Gallery, Brisbane, and was immediately drawn to her warmth, colour, and quiet sense of joy. Living and painting from her home studio in Leura, Ros has such a beautiful way of noticing and celebrating the everyday beauty around her.
Her paintings feel like gentle reflections of the things she loves — nature, light, stillness, and connection — with a kind and generous spirit that seems to carry through both her work and every interaction. There’s a sincerity and ease in her practice that makes her paintings feel deeply human and full of life.
Artist Statement
Ros Craig lives and paints from her home studio in Leura in the beautiful Blue Mountains of NSW Australia. “I paint what I love! Well, not everything that I love (my Family, trees, love, joy, the quiet, faith)!!! Not quite sure how you paint them! But maybe, just maybe, some glimmers of those things find their way into my work, in the mystery of it all. “ Ros. has been painting ‘seriously’ since late 2019, when her family generously gifted her with a series of Art Classes in Sydney. Her art journey however started well before that at her Mother’s knee. She vividly remembers painting with her Mother on the dining room table in her family home. Art studies followed, in her final years of Secondary school & at Uni. And, ever a pencil or brush in her hand since! “Learning to observe is a great gift. My Mother was highly observant. She was attuned to pattern, shape, colour, form in nature and everywhere else!! Her gardens were works of love & art. ‘What you live with, you become’ I think thats how it works! My paintings can now be found through out Australia and the wider world, chosen generously by many. I marvel and remain so grateful. “
