I’ve long admired Nerida’s work for the quiet sense of calm it carries. Her landscapes feel deeply familiar—rolling hills, winding roads, and moments of stillness that invite you to slow down and take it all in.

Her use of colour and brushwork has a confidence to it—layered, expressive, yet held together by her beautifully muted palette. It gives her work a timeless quality, as though these places exist just outside of time, grounded in memory as much as observation.

Knowing she works from her on-farm studio in the Northern Rivers, you can sense that closeness to the land in everything she paints. There’s an authenticity in her connection to place that comes through so naturally. And truly—who doesn’t love an Australian landscape?

Artist Statement

Nerida Woolley is an Australian landscape painter working primarily in oils. Her paintings explore the quiet beauty of rural Australia—weathered farmhouses, open paddocks, and the soft, shifting colours of the land. Inspired by long drives through the countryside and the legacy of Australian impressionists such as, Arthur Streeton, her work seeks to capture atmosphere, memory, and a sense of place rather than exact detail. Using a restrained palette of muted greens, blues and earth tones, Woolley focuses on light, mood and simplicity. Each painting is an invitation to pause and reflect on the understated poetry of the Australian landscape and the stories held within its quiet spaces.
