I’ve come to know Eira’s work through Instagram and our shared exhibitions with Artbid, and I’ve always been drawn to the quiet honesty she brings to her practice. There’s a sensitivity in the way she builds her surfaces—layer by layer, mark by mark—that feels both deeply personal and widely relatable.

Her work holds that rare balance between strength and softness. You can sense her background in textiles in the attention to pattern, stitch, and material, but it never feels forced—everything is guided by intuition. The themes she explores—memory, motherhood, relationships—unfold gently, inviting you in rather than demanding attention.

What I admire most is her willingness to let the work remain raw and unpolished, to trust in instinct over perfection. There’s a kind of freedom in that approach that’s both grounding and inspiring. Her paintings feel lived-in, like they carry time within them—moments of stillness, reflection, and renewal.

Artist Bio

My intuitive, mixed media practice explores memory, relationships, motherhood and the quiet rhythms of daily life. The work is rooted in storytelling, communicating my internal dialogues, it draws on shared human experiences and emotional connection through colour, mark and texture. With a background in textile design and a first class honours degree in Contemporary Applied Arts, there is a strong sensitivity to surface and pattern, the layered abstract works often incorporate found materials and stitch, creating tactile compositions that balance intuition with material depth. Born and raised in the UK, I am now based in Newcastle NSW, Australia. My work has been selected for several art prizes, exhibited widely and held in private collections across Australia, Europe and the United Kingdom.
