Three Times The Catch

Some of my favourite memories from childhood have come from fishing with my dad and brothers. “You’re only a girl” rings through my head when I think about these days though. My father would chant this phrase often. Proving myself became sport to me. I needed to catch three times as many fish as my brothers. This works tells of a time when we fished from the jetty in Trumpeter Street, Battery Point. Not from a boat or anything, just straight off the jetty, like proper boagans.
