Harriet Links

Oil on framed linen
83 x 103cm

2026

Operating within an abstracted aerial perspective, this work draws on the visual language of a rugged coastline shaped by tidal movement and shifting currents, positioning the landscape as a liminal zone—an unstable threshold where distinct elements converge, resist, and reconfigure.

Gestural marks and layered surfaces articulate a sense of geological and emotional time, where accumulation, erosion, and interruption coexist. The composition resists a fixed horizon, proposing instead a field of interrelation in which boundaries remain porous and contingent. Linear passages traverse areas of density and rupture, suggesting connective structures that are continuously negotiated.

In the context of Making Connections, the work approaches connection as process rather than resolution, acknowledging fracture and distance as generative conditions. It situates itself between landscape and interiority, where tidal movement becomes a framework for relational exchange—dynamic, provisional, and sustained through tension.
